6:30-8 pm Central Time
ONLINE

Are you ready to share your writing with the world but don’t know where to start? In this introductory, pay-what-you-can class we’ll cover all the basics of how to start submitting your work for publication.

We’ll discuss reasons you might want to publish, how to tell when a piece is ready to submit, the world of literary journals and contests, tips for giving your submission the best chance of being accepted, as well as resources for finding the right place to submit.

This class will focus on publishing short pieces like stories, essays, and poems. We won’t be discussing how to publish book-length work.

By the end of this class, you’ll learn:

  • Why you might want to pursue publication

  • Whether your writing is ready to submit

  • How to find places to publish and decide if they’re a good fit for you

  • The differences between submitting to literary journals and contests

  • Tips on how to make your submission as strong as possible
