Listening to Life: Essay Intensive Workshop

What does it mean to deeply listen to our lives and put those truths on the page? In this fun, generative, workshop-focused class, we’ll explore the personal and lyric essay forms. You’ll write essays and receive feedback from your peers, read and discuss pieces by other writers, and generate new work with in-class writing prompts. By the end of this five-week course, you’ll:
Better understand personal and lyric essays as literary forms
Learn craft tools to make your writing shine
Read and discuss work from other writers
Write new essays and receive in-depth feedback
Workshop the writing of your classmates
Harness your creativity through guided writing prompts
Get tips on publishing your pieces
Connect with a compassionate community of other writers
This workshop is open to adults 18+. Registration is limited to twelve students.
Sliding scale tuition:
$150 - if you’re making ends meet
$225 - if you’re financially stable
$300 - if you’re financially flourishing
